Other Ways to Help
Host a Food and Supply Drive
Although we receive food donations, Meals on Wheels must purchase the bulk of food and kitchen supplies. Receiving donations of the items we need helps ease the burden greatly. Hosting a food and supply drive is a fun and easy way to get your friends, family or business involved in our mission! We are always in need of :
- Large (#10) Cans of Fruit
- Vegetables or Applesauce
- Bags of Rice or Spaghetti Noodles
- Individually Wrapped Dessert Items (Little Debbie’s or Rice Krispie Treats)
- Bleach and Laundry Detergent
- Dish Cloths and Dish Towels
Items may be delivered to Meals on Wheels – Anderson at 105 S. Fant Street Monday through Thursday from 8 am – 4 pm or Friday from 8 am – 2 pm.
Donate In-Kind and/or Auction Items
Meals on Wheels – Anderson graciously accepts donations of new, one-of-a-kind items or experiences that can be included in an auction or raffle at one of our fundraising events. We are currently collecting items for the silent auction that will take place at Mardi Gras in the Electric City on March 2 , 2018.
Popular Past Items Include: Gift Certificates (Dining, Retail) // Sports Themed Items // Experiences (Ski Passes, Vacation Packages, Park Passes) // Outdoor Recreational Items (Boards, Floats, Boating Accessories, Camping Equipment)
Individuals, businesses or groups who donate in-kind and/or auctions items will be recognized in our event program as well as on social media. We’re so grateful to the businesses and individuals who faithfully donate auction items and help make our fundraisers successful! To donate, please call our Special Event Coordinator at 864-225-6800 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pack and Donate Birthday Bags and Cards
For every birthday, Meals on Wheels and our generous volunteers provide meal recipients with a birthday bag and card to show how much we care. The disabled and elderly homebound we deliver to may not have family in the area or friends who visit often, so this gesture can be very meaningful to them. It’s a great project for children or a wonderful group or organization activity.
Suggested Items for Birthday Bags: Crossword Puzzles // Suduko Books // Ink Pens // Notecards // Chapstick // Hand Lotion // Socks // Combs or Brushes // Small Toiletries (Please DO NOT include candy, razors, food, or anything else with an expiration date)
Birthday bags may be delivered to the Meals on Wheels Anderson location at 105 S. Fant Street. Deliveries may be made Monday through Thursday from 8 am – 4 pm or Friday from 8 am – 2 pm. Click here to download a birthday bag flyer.
